This is the first announcement for our Annual Banquet, from John Cowan, our esteemed Badminton Committee Chair:

Hi Everyone.

A quick note to advise you that our Annual Badminton Awards and Banquet will
take place Monday, May 17.

It promises to be a great evening.

We have a couple of very special presentations, some humorous honourable
mentions, a review of Junior and High performance Team achievements and some
surprises.

We will have the detailed invitation to you next week, but in the meanwhile,
don't hesitate to register with the front desk!

James is planning the following fabulous Spring menu:

News
March 18, 2010 – Early Bird Door Prize! Enter on or before March 26, 2010 to be entered in a draw for $100 CASH!  More great prizes will be provided during the event and banquet.
March 17, 2010 – Yonex has signed on as official shuttle supplier for the 2010 Junior Badminton Provincials. Yonex shuttles will be provided for all matches free of charge to the participants.
March 17, 2010 – Yonex merchandise on sale at the 2010 Junior Badminton Provincials, visit the event for great deals on Yonex products.  Visit www.yonex.com
March 8, 2010 – Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club named host for 2010 Junior Badminton Provincials.  Lunch banquet provided free of charge for all event participants. Parents and friends can purchase lunch tickets for $20 during the registration process or contact info@bcbadmintonprovincials.ca  (Full reimbursement on extra tickets if organizers are notified by Noon Friday April 9th)
 
More Reasons to Play
-          For the love of Badminton!  We have tried our best to reduce the cost and provide the most value to this event.  Come and celebrate with us!

-          Lead up to Junior Nationals.  Participating in the Provincials will help secure a provincial ranking for optimal separation in Nationals draws.

-          Funding!  If you hope to be eligible for any High Performance programs or funding in the coming season you will be required to have participated in the 2010 Junior Badminton Provincials!

2010 Junior Badminton Provincials

Hi Folks-
 
Quick note to advise you that the VLTBC Badminton Hall will be used this weekend to host the 2010 Black Knight British Columbia Junior Elite tournament.
All courts are reserved for this event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Some participants are likely to practice Thursday evening, but not at full expense of those members wishing to come for drop-in play.
Regular access to the hall will resume as of March 15.

Dear Juniors and Parents,

Here are two messages from Ram and our coaches:

There are no Group Badminton Lessons between March 8-12 as the club is observing Spring Break.  We return to the same schedule as last week on March 15th with no need to register again.

Sorry for any inconvenience, hopefully the kids will still be able to take advantage of this “break” and play some badminton outside of their regularly scheduled lessons.

As well, Ram would like to encourage you to come watch the Junior Elite Tournament at VanLawn this coming weekend. This tournament is part of the National Circuit.

This is an email from Ram and Badminton BC regarding the upcoming BC
Winter Games tryouts - they are for U14 kids only ie. 13 years of age
or younger as of January 1st, 2010.

  1. The Badminton Hall will be closed at 12:00 NOON on Saturday,
December 12th for preparation for Breakfast with Santa on Sunday,
December 13th. The Hall will reopen at approximately 7:30 PM on
December 13th. We will ensure signs are posted to notify the Members.



  2. The Turkey Shoot is now being held on Tuesday, December 15th
(NOT Thursday, December 17th as noted in Hi Lights). There are signs
up around the Club, however we want to ensure that members are aware
of this change.

Dear Juniors and Parents,

Ram would like to remind all parents that it's that time of year again
- Yup! It's time to dust off your racquets and join the kids for some
fun in the Badminton Hall. November 28th is our annual parent and
child event complete with refreshments, camaraderie and games!
The cost is $10/person and includes prizes and refreshments. It will
take place between 10am and 2pm with an hour of play per team; the
start time will depend on the age of your child. Don't miss this
event!

The sign up sheet is in the Badminton Hall - please sign up by
Thursday Nov 26th.

Dear Juniors and Parents,

Here is a quick message from our Head Badminton Pro, Ram:

With fall programs getting underway next week Ram would like to remind
parents that our group lessons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons
still have space available so don't forget to sign up. Specifically
the groups that still have space are the 'shuttlers' and the
development and competitve series groups. Have a look at the programs
guide for changes from last years groups.

Dear Juniors and Parents,

This is a message from Mr. Ed Braun (VanLawn Operations Manager): BC
Hardwood have inspected the re-coating in the Badminton Hall and are
not happy with the result. They have asked to come in and redo the
floor, this shows they demand a high level of customer satisfaction
from their personnel. I have asked them to start tomorrow morning; the
courts will be closed Thursday and re-opened for play Friday morning
approximately 7:30AM.

I think this will be a small price to pay to ensure our courts remain
in tip top shape for years to come!

I hope everyone had a fantastic summer. I have two quick announcements for you this weekend:

1. Ed Braun has confirmed that the Badminton Hall will be open tomorrow, Monday, September 7th at 4pm!

2. Ram Nayyar would like to remind all juniors that lessons will commence the week of Monday, September 14th.
